What If? Documentary:

Flesh to Flesh
Even as recently as five years ago, guests would
greet and take leave of even comparative strangers with a handshake
or a kiss. Nowadays we have all become completely used to taking
sensible precautions about skin contact. Scientists tell us that AIDS
could have been a lot worse - it might, like flu or the common cold,
have been transmitted by airborne particles in which case the disease
would have spread unchecked through the population.
For a long time people hid behind the idea that it was a minority
problem, the world began to change when it became clear that it
wasn't.
False Witness looks at the social effects of the AIDS epidemic
and asks, as at last there seems to be some hope of effective new
treatments, will things ever be the same? We meet young people,
designers, social historians and artists in a quest to find the real lasting
effects of the disease that moves from flesh to flesh.
